Wales Holiday 2009

"Fantastic !"    "Amazing !"   "Brilliant !" were some of  the comments about a recent trip to Snowdonia National Park from a varied age group from Friends First Supported Housing Unit.

Some had never been on holiday before and were so grateful for a chance to see the majestic mountains and lakes of north Wales in the summer sunshine.

"It makes me feel adventurous just being here !" commented one who has recently had big disappointments in his life, "Serenity !" said another who is facing big challenges in their personal recovery process.

Wales 09 030

A likely bunch

While there we visited a slate mine descending hundreds of metres deep into the earth where we looked at others whose daily lives had presented real challenge and who had faced their own
difficulties in cold, dark, soaking wet conditions, to overcome danger and fear to persevere and work hard to earn just enough to survive.

Wales 09 08 The kings

On top of the world....well Snowdon anyway!

We saw the amazing Caernarfon Castle and the military museum which tells of the discipline and courage needed to defend life and nation when besieged by a merciless enemy. However the most unforgettable memory for all has been the awesome, rugged beauty of the landscape which somehow gives fresh encouragement to resume our struggles with the issues that can besiege our lives.

“I'll never forget our time in Wales.  I loved it so much that I really didn't want to come home
