Marriage Course

MarriageCourse 3

The aim of the Marriage Course is to promote healthy marriages. It is very practical, giving tools for strengthening and deepening relationships over a lifetime. Chris Kidger, who runs the course says, “It is based on the principles of putting love right at the heart of marriage – which sounds obvious, but isn’t necessarily easy.”

It is designed for any couple, whether Christians or not, whether their marriage is really good or having some difficulties, and whether they have been married for two or fifty years.

Candles, chocolates and honesty

John and Debbie Ward, married for just under 5 years, took part in the Marriage Course in 2003. “We signed up for the course not quite knowing what to expect. We were both happy in our marriage, but went along to see what we could get from it. As soon as we walked in, we were both quite shocked: small tables were set out around the candlelit room and (to Deb’s delight) there were chocolates on each one. We were served a glass of wine each and little nibbles (very nice ones too, no expense spared!)

"By the end of the first evening, we had surprised ourselves at how many areas we hadn’t discussed since we’d been married and, as the course went on, we discovered some things that explained a lot about us and the way we were that, although obvious, had been overlooked.

"By the end of the course, we could see that although we were happy, there were areas of our marriage that needed attention. We now spend at least one night a week together and, after discussion on the course, decided to try for a baby. That was in 2003 and we now have baby Archie! We would highly recommend the course to any married couple, happy or unhappy, Christian or not.”

Next course

The dates for the next course are:
May 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th.

CoupleThe course consists of 7 evenings, each covering a different topic.
