Cornwall Holiday 2008
A residents view:
In 2008, Friends First organised a week’s holiday in Cornwall. Staff and residents stayed in a guest house on a farm near Newquay, surrounded by beautiful countryside. It was a really amazing trip as there was much to see and do such as Lands End and Metherguisy, as well as the Eden Project – a ‘must see’ for anyone who goes to Cornwall! It wasn’t just great because it was a refreshing, happy holiday away, but it also really helped everyone bond together.

Staff member Danny Cassidy comments:
After just a few days in the natural beauty of North Cornwall we felt refreshed and renewed, as this amazing place is able to restore an appreciation of the wonder and awe in the amazing creation of which we are a part. Having an opportunity to explore the wonderful scenery surrounding Newquay allows encouragement to re-enter lives which often contain difficult and challenging circumstances. We were stimulated by St Michael’s Mount, which displays the incredibly industrious, creative skills of the men and women who built an amazing harbour and castle on an isolated rock surrounded by the sea.

The Eden Project displays the ingenuity of those who have recreated a tropical rain forest and much more in celebration of what God has made available for us to enjoy. We felt the power and might of the Atlantic Ocean and saw the huge caves and rocks that waves had carved out over the centuries. Staying in a peaceful farmhouse in lovely surroundings gave us opportunity to feel the joys and difficulties of human company as well as encouraging the desire to work out and find that same beauty in our relationships together.
